DIY | Marble Coasters

Hello beautiful DIY-ers! I am so stoked about this DIY. I recently was looking for a set of marble coasters to add to my ever growing collection of marble trinkets. But the price tag on one of those bad boys was enough to make me consider eating plain bread for the next month. Long story short, my stomach won, and my brain kicked in. So i figured out how to make some myself. Honestly, the satisfaction of making my own home ware is so much better than pressing the checkout button. These coasters cost me less then £6 and I love them, and for my first try I will pat myself on the back for getting a good result. I even had some clay left over for a snazzy new bowl for my rings!

Supplies:
Air dry Clay
Black acrylic paint
Copper acrylic paint
Cork circles
Exactoknife

I only used one type of clay for the coasters, and added paint to dye the clay. Wear gloves! Because I had to learn the hard way and my fresh manicure had to pay the ultimate price. You can add any colour to dye the clay but i opted for black to make grey clay.

This is how I made my marble effect on my clay. In hindsight I would use less grey, or maybe two shades of grey. Like a lighter and darker shade to add some depth. But hey ho it still worked.

I used the cork as a guide to cut my clay. When the clay dried I added the cork circles to the bottom with some E6000 glue to stop them from cracking/scratching if I stacked them. Paint the edges with copper to give the illusion of a metal outer coating. This makes them look super expensive! And then voila you are done! Now all you need is your friends over for some tea so they can gush over how nice your coasters are!
